The Caldwell Collection, Autumn/Winter 2016-2017 by Gina Marie, inspired by a popular poem by American writer and poet Eugene Field and published in the late 1800s. Originally titled, Dutch Lullaby, it’s about a fictional trio sailing and fishing amongst the stars from a boat which is a wooden shoe.
Each Gina Marie collection is named after a botanical garden or Arboretum around the world and this time, we’re thinking outside the box. The AW16-17 collection is called Caldwell, named after a garden in the stars. Caldwell 49 is also known as the “Rosetta Nebula,” a star formation in the Milky Way Galaxy. Each piece in each collection derives its name from the Garden’s surrounding street names. The styles in Caldwell collection are the names of Grecian mythical stories, stars, galaxies.
